Late last month, visionary entertainer Walt Disney’s former home hit the market, listed with Sotheby’s International for $3,650,000. After just twelve days, this precious home has already been claimed by a member of the faithful.
Notice the special character hiding in that last photo (which is only on the MLS).
If you were hoping to make this unique sanctuary into your home, it may yet not be too late: According to the listing, this home’s current pending status is still “Backup Offers Accepted.” But don’t delay, or you may miss this opportunity forever.

This house is just south of Griffith Park and the Los Angeles Zoo, which is the area in which Walt often sat on a park bench in the late 1940s with his young children as he dreamed up what would later become Disneyland.
If you look at the last photograph in the listing, which is from the January 1940 issue of Better Homes & Gardens, Walt tells the story of how mice used to get into the garbage can next to his drawing board to get at scraps of food. He adopted one and made a small shelf for it over his workspace where it ran back and forth as he worked. He named it Mortimer, which became the inspiration for Mickey Mouse.
Fascinating history for sure.
